9TH GRADE
My First SLC (Student Led Conference) Reflection
♦︎ When it came to preparing for my first SLC, I felt fairly ready. Well, at least as prepared as I could have been when it came to organizing my classwork for the meeting with my parents. I am organized when it comes to keeping my projects and schoolwork, so I found it easy to bring everything together for my SLC. It felt very good to have all of my things together so I could have a successful and informative S L C with my parents.
♦︎ Math – I used evidence from previous tests, mini projects, and my composition book to demonstrate my knowledge of the Algebra1 c-urriculum.
♦︎ Humanities – I used my freshman mask project as an example of the sociological content we had been studying throughout the year. I showed my paper grade for the essay and mask as a piece of physical evidence.
♦︎ Digital Arts – I gave my parents an update on my Teacher Animal Project (a project where we put a teacher's face on an animal/monster/being) and the actions that I would take to finish the project on time.
♦︎ Physics – To bring my parents up to date on the work I'd been doing in Physics, I showed them a picture of my model rocket that I created in Physics. I also showed them my grade in the class, and a project I thought went well and a project I thought I didn't well on.
I tend to speak with my parents very often about my student career at Animas high school, and I feel like I have kept them very up to date on my current projects, classes, and grades. I've shared a lot of information with them over dinners and car rides, and I feel like they a r e very educated on what's going on in my school experience.
After participating in my first SLC, I feel like I have gained a sense of awareness when it comes to my school work, and I have learned that it helps to be overly prepared when it comes to organizing your work to create an informative and interesting presentation of learning.
